Figuring out what to wear

I tend to figure out what I should wear about an hour or so after I have left the house (by then, I am committed).  I don't think about my outfit in the morning while I am getting the three of us dressed and ready to go*.  This is what I wore today to the baby's doctor appointment and the Eaton's Centre.  Of course there is nothing wrong...except this incredibly shapeless navy tank could have been upgraded.  Or at least half tucked.  And yes, it is almost exactly what I wore before.

Do you notice a change since I quit sugar? It will be three weeks tomorrow.  I have had minimal sugar cravings and almost no inclination to 'cheat'...  I fill up on fruit, nuts, vegetables, water, salad, grilled meat, sushi, egg whites, and of course, oatmeal!  The most difficult habit to tame was picking at my son's leftovers.

I jumped on the scale to check (just before sitting down to type this) and I weighed 134lbs.  Sometimes the scale goes as low as 132lbs!  I started at 140lbs! Yeah! Within the first week or so, I lost the bloated feeling in my entire body.  The face in the mirror was my face! So great!  My mommy tummy is still squishy.  I guess it is time to add in daily abdominal training (I know, I've said this before...I have been slacking on the ab exercises since March).  I am still jogging twice a week and using elliptical whenever I get a chance.  We also walk every day.  I have not been counting calories, so I am not sure if I am generating enough of a deficit to burn fat.  I am just eating healthy, and staying full.  Since I am still nursing, I am not aggressively trying to lose weight - but let me tell you, I am more than ready to fit back into my old clothing (without muffin top)!!

*Time to try something new....I am going to test-drive some outfits, take photos, and use these as a guide.  Do all the thinking in advance. I am not sure if I should post photos online, since I am not exactly fashionable, and well, the internet can be a ruthless place.

Great work with the sugar kick! You look fantastic, and your house looks ah-mazing (I think if you did a poll people would be incredulous to find out kids live there). I like your outfit photo idea...have you heard of style book? it's an app where you can take photos of your clothes and then make outfits (in your downtime of course)

  2. Okay, you have TOTALLY sold me on the 'no sugar'. Question - is that just refined sugars? What about fruit juices? The ones with no sugar added.

And post away with your outfits - ignore any naysayers if they come out of the woodwork. I'll be here to cheer you on!

You look great! Taking pictures of outfits are a great way to go. Sometimes I find that I think I look fine until I see a picture of myself later on and think- what was I thinking? Same goes for haircuts.

  4. Woohoo! That's amazing. I am hoping that Fatty Get Skinny (my current plan) does the same thing. It also excludes sugar (dairy is allowed), so fingers crossed!

  8. You look great. I really don't know if I could give up the sugar. I need my chocolate every evening after I put the kids down. I am trying to cut down on the bread though. And I've started drinking a green smoothie everyday. Like you, I need to loose the baby belly!

  12. Looking good, chica! Amazing work on the no-sugar front: I admire your commitment. Glad it's going well. And go ahead and post those outfit photos; the internet in general might be ruthless, but the blogosphere is a safe place :)

    PS - Love the sandals!

  14. This might sound stalker-ish but I recommend finding someone who's fashion style you admire and has a similar body type to yours. I had a coworker long ago (10+ years) whose style I loved. When shopping or trying to figure out an outfit at home, I still think of her and how she would wear it. It really helps. I think posting pictures will help too. I've realized my clothes need to be tailored, loose shirts, baggy pants just don't work on my frame. You have a fantastic figure! It's a great place to start ;)
