What I've been wearing lately

I tend to notice when a person is wearing a really great casual outfit. I am checking everyone out, all of the time! If a woman walks by, and she is put together in a I-don't-really-care-what-I-look-like-today-but-I-know-I-look-fabulous kind of way, I notice. I applaud! Well, I don't actually applaud. If they are walking toward me, I sort of stare them down until I make eye contact, then I look away.

This got me thinking, what if I had a card, or a sticker, or a gold star I could discretely pass out that says "you look great today!"...wouldn't that be fun?

I guess I could simply say: "love your outfit!" Except, I don't think I could do it. Not to a person I am passing in the street, anyways. I'd feel a little insane.

Anyways, this is what I have been wearing to drop off or pick up my son at school*. I love my boyfriend jeans and sweatshirts right now. My slouchy sweats are pretty great too!  I think my favorite outfit is #11 (what I am wearing right now!)

ps. I don't know how I ended up wearing #7...am I trying too hard? am I not trying hard enough? oh well, bad outfits happen...

*#10 I wore to TIFF to see Mandela // #4 I wore to my first lecture at UofT, this is the sweatshirt I am wearing from Joe Fresh - size Medium! Love it!

  2. I know how you feel! I walked by you and your 2 kiddos once on Eglinton north of Forest Hill and didn't even say "love your blog!" (Regretted it afterwards.)

  3. Knowing that Toronto is a city full of people who have mastered the art of ignoring each other (or at least pretending to) I often tell someone if I think they look great. I figure - who doesn't want to hear that? It's rare that people are so conceited that they say "I know I do!" I think most people will accept a compliment. It can totally turn someone's day around!

  4. I found in NYC people were more obvious about checking you out- they didn't back down if you made eye contact! here we front like we aren't

I want to give the compliment, but i always hold my tongue...something checks me...it's like an invisible barrier that I am not willing to cross!

  7. Thanks Lynn!

The Blue and White striped sweater #1 is a recent purchase from Gap : http://www.gapcanada.ca/browse/product.do?pid=6041250030001&cid=8998&locale=en_CA

The yellow top is Joe Fresh and the moccasins Zara...

  8. It's hard to see the outfits from your itty bitty photos! I check people out all the time, but even when I really want to know where someone got a great piece from, I never approach them. Feel too shy. Casual dressing to me is throwing on a dress because it's one piece (I don't really do pants). Outside of great accessories, I decided that it was time to grow up and start wearing fun lipstick! Cute dress + fun shade of lipstick is a super easy way to look/feel great fast, :)
