Make (serious) money at your Garage Sale

I have started collecting stuff to sell at our street sale.  So far we have some Christmas stuff, some bowls*, and miscellaneous (the miscellaneous is what garage sales are all about!).  I think we will find more as we go through the basement storage room.  Collecting stuff to get rid of is almost as fun as thrifting for new stuff!

I would REALLY love to read this eBook..."The Garage Sale Guide to Greatness: 20 Keys to Success,"  by Kelli Davidson and Holli Hagan-Rice.  Dede, of Vintage and Flea is giving away two copies.  For a chance to win, leave a comment on Vintage and Flea!

Good luck!

*I am reconsidering the bowls...I mean, how can you have too many bowls...that's crazy talk!

  1. I don't recall where I read it before but a very useful home decor/organization advice I picked up was to always get rid of an old item when you picked up a new one of the similar function/appeal. But it's so hard to let go certain stuff...I almost manage to convince myself that I might get to use it down the road. It's about time for me to start my spring cleaning too. Good luck with your sale!

  2. I got a great tablecloth from one of your neighbours at your street sale last year - $5 for a yellow and white checked pattern. Love it! You may recall that my yard sale was a complete bust but I think if you really want crowds, post it on Kijiji or Craigslist. People will come in droves!

  3. So funny as I was looking at the pics, I was thinking she is NOT going to get rid of those bowls is she? Whew...I would reconsider if I were you...I love bowls, and agree you can never have too many.

  4. Looking forward to hearing about your experience - a yard sale is definitely in our future, but I'd love to know what to do to make it a success!

  7. We have a massive street sale every May and I can't WAIT. I'm constantly going through the house thinking of things to put out. Last year we made pretty good money - it's so crazy what people will buy! I usually have a big FREE box too because I just want to get rid of odds and ends and people love it!

  8. You know, I probably will get rid of the bowls...I have all the pyrex and other vintage bowls...I don't really need anything from the bay!
The are two milk glass bowls in the pile too that I just don't use anymore!

  10. Thank you so much for posting about the book! I hope your readers will go over and post a comment so they too can be a potential winner. I enjoyed writing it so much as it was a tag team effort with my daughter. As a side note, I would totally buy that taupe bowl to go with my collection if I were anywhere near you!
