Exterior colour test

I am determined to pick a paint colour before the long weekend!

Today, I took down a storm window at the back of the house and painted the wood a sandy brown colour (two quick coats).  This is an old can of paint we bought when we were trying to choose a colour for the stucco.

At this time of day, it seems a little too light, no?  A little too grey?...I have to check it out in the sunlight tomorrow...

Even better is benjamin moore, iron mountain...

(we will be staining the deck darker...I have to pick a colour for that too! oh dear!)

  1. I am getting REALLY excited about this colour!
Of course, we have to change or paint? the eaves and soffit and facia...but it is a classy combo!!!

Now if Benjamin Moores Site wasn't sooo GD sloooooow and making me log in again...seems to be not logging in...maybe I could show you more of the house using iron mountain!

I really like the dark grey-- we used a colour similar to that ourselves. I think it picks up the dark tones of your brick. I love your exterior light sconces. Where did you find those?

  6. I like the darker colour, but would go even more grey and less taupe. Makes a nice contrast with the orange in the bricks. Great to see you doing this in such detail, as we will needing to make these decisions hopefully not too far in the future. Do you have any suggestions on replacing/repairing wood windows in TO?
ps. it's day 31 of no sugar for me...thanks for the inspiration! Strangely, I have found the past four days the hardest...the rest was much easier than I expected. Definitely feeling lighter and my clothes looser. Trying for another month now.

  7. Looks fantastic Shannon and I like that it is less harsh than the black! We had to paint everything too but worth it.

  12. We were going to repair our windows...but then you have to paint them every year...and the drafts in the winter are pretty killer...so we are just going for replacements. We are likely going to use Fieldstone, but we are getting quotes from Inline and Brock too.

    one month! Whoo hoo!
I am going until the end of August! Even then I won't add sweets back into my diet...no desserts or anything...just won't be so picky with everything else!

  13. Keeping the deck in medium tones, because of high traffic and dirt!

  15. Yah, we will be using a custom colour to match the aluminum...but it is pretty close to iron mountain (on the computer screen)

I bet it is one striking dining room!

  17. It will be when it is done! We are re-doing all of the original trim in our house (sanding and re-staining) so the window has no trim and I want new furniture and I need new curtains...and...and...and...
But yeah, it is a gorgeous colour and the saving grace of that room at the moment.
