Salvaged

Last night we rolled this home*.  A store had tossed it out...

It's huge! It's in great condition. I like the slanty shelves, but easy enough to change. It could be painted...

I was thinking at the time 'maybe we can get it into the basement and put trucks on it'...

Now I am thinking 'what was I thinking?'

If I passed it by, I would forever wish that I at least tried it!  Over time, in my imagination, this rack would have morphed into perfect proportions and I would forever regret it.

So...anyone want to help me move it down the stairs?

* my three year old helped push it, I was wearing the baby

ps. It was free! And the rain was finally coming, so we HAD TO rescue it!

  1. It's a good find! Perfect for trucks and I LOVE a freebie project. And yes, you would have built it up to be something amazing. Good decision!

Great score! I'm a total curbside diver myself. I actually love the slanty shelves. Can picture doing something artsy with it. Or maybe transforming it into a fancy shoe rack...dammit...now I want one!

  6. this is my first time taking something large from the curbside
but this is a nice store, and the shelf was only there for a few hours...it would have been drenched and worthless if I hadn't saved it!

  7. SCORE! Art supplies rack up high for the kids, maybe crayons/ markers /glue etc in nice bins/tubs. Down low the trucks/ cars etc that can be put back by little hands? Jealous cause I do have that many shoes. I totally agree that having your babes push and prod this home was the only *decent* thing to do :)

  8. Smile...I so, would have pushed it home too...endless uses...easily tricked out...what's not to love...

I see it painted white...and stocked with all things bathroom, towels, shampoo, little yellow duckies...etc.

The other day I was on the bus (a rare occasion) and out of the window I saw an entire dining room set placed on the trash...UGH! I almost...almost went back for it in my car when I got home...my car is so tiny, I talked myself out of it...
