I want to make these ferns happen...I need some fill (dirt or gravel) in the planters. The plastic pots the ferns came in are about one quarter inch too small to sit nicely at the top of the stone planters.
Worse case I will make a duct tape "flower frog" and let the pot sit in a duct tape web...
Do you have outdoor ferns? How often do you water them?
Your ferns are gorgeous as are the planters. We had ferns at our old house, but I can't remember the watering schedule as they were on a timer. We have some planned for our new house as well, though I don't think any planting will get done until next spring.
ReplyDeleteI have ferns this year in my planters. Mine are exposed to full sun, and since this has been a really dry summer, I have been watering them every day (or every other day) – basically whenever the soil dries out.
ReplyDeleteI have ferns every year, because they are SO easy to manage. They don't like burning sun, but other than that, no trouble! Water every couple of days if it's very hot, but otherwise, once per week is fine. They last into the autumn, which is also nice!
ReplyDeleteThey are holding up??? Ours will be under a maple tree...do you mist them?
ReplyDeleteI've killed them over and over when I tried to have ferns inside...but then again, I water my plants 1x month
ReplyDeleteOne of them has grown quite vigorously, the other has suffered a bit because we didn't check the drain hole before we potted it and it was actually plugged so it had a bit of root rot. I re-potted after unplugging the drain hole and hopefully it will bounce back. I wet the leaves a bit every other watering if it's been particularly sunny.
