I am happy with the shelves, REALLY happy...but the room is all 'den like' with no real focal point or style...ok I suppose that's what happens when you take all the furniture that won't fit into any other room, and stuff it into a small room, then put up super busy wall shelves...except the room functions really well...and its really nice to sink into that leather chair (I'd like to say with a good book, but usually its with 'brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?')...Ok, so its actually really comfortable in here, we have been spending a lot of time in the office, still it doesn't tickle my style senses.
I want a rug that really ties the room together...and I have leather, brass and black & white I need to marry, or simplify...I will never claim to be any good at stylin' up a room (I can offer someone else one million ideas but in my own space I just play day-to-day until I stumble upon a somewhat pleasing assembly of stuff)...
Here's a look at the rest of the room, the 'before'
Update: Here's the thing, I feel like the shelves are making the desk look dinky...so maybe I will put desk in front of the window (despite the fact that we are looking out at my neighbors sitting at their desk in their window)...and put the chair in the corner...just to try it out...now I bet some of you can already visual what this will look like (better or worse), but I need to play musical furniture!
Does this layout work better?
Update 2: moved the small cabinet from underneath the desk to the side...oh and hung a b&w photo (by jennylpaul)
