Art: One for me, one for you!

 

Yesterday, I bought a chrome frame at a church rummage sale. The frame was nothing special, and the art was nothing special, but it was an incredibly busy sale and I got a little swept up in the frenzy!

This morning, I combed through ETSY looking for something new to put in the frame and I fell in love with a watercolour painting. Unfortunately (fortunately?), I wasn't really in the mood to spend more money, so I turned to our D: Drive instead and took a look at my husband's photography. I found this image from our trip to Paris in 2010.

Perfect!

My husband printed out two copies! One for me, and one to share!

"Antiques of the Future" Giveaway

Last year, I bought this plate at goodwill*. Look how cute it is! How could I stop myself? Looking back, I guess I was a bit addicted to buying things. I still love it, and I am certain some of you will too! That's why I thought I could do a giveaway!

Make (serious) money at your Garage Sale

I have started collecting stuff to sell at our street sale.  So far we have some Christmas stuff, some bowls*, and miscellaneous (the miscellaneous is what garage sales are all about!).  I think we will find more as we go through the basement storage room.  Collecting stuff to get rid of is almost as fun as thrifting for new stuff!

Can you believe that it is already October? We have one last giveaway for September! I only fell three days behind, not bad!  

The final item is from the Paris flea market at Place d'Aligre.  This market is a junk junkie's dream!  I posted about it here.  

I bought three vintage tin plates from one vendor, with the intention of putting them on my son's wall.  I loved them so much, that I didn't realize two of them were identical!.  My loss, your gain!

The plate is 8" diameter.  Marked 'Shell' on the back.

I think it's a pretty unique item.  Of course, I know NOTHING about it, except it looks great on the wall, and might be a nice place for your better half to toss his coins when he comes in the door (or on a beside table).

I have taken stock of my growing hoard of treasures tucked into every recess of our home, and decided to clear out a few odds and ends.  Therefore, SEPTEMBER IS GIVEAWAY MONTH!  I will hold a draw for something small each Friday (or Sunday) during September - Five Fridays, five draws, five small things.  Tiny things that are easy to ship (I hope). 

Item number four is a junktique from the Paris Flea Market at Vanves.  A golden yellow bonbon tin, 4 1/4" diameter, 2" tall

 

I was digging through a pile of worn out stuff casually dumped on the sidewalk by a dealer, when I inspected this tin, and then put it down again.  I found a stack of tiny saucers I loved, and bargained with my poor french and best smile.  After I dropped 1.5 Euro into his outstretch hand, the dealer picked up the tin and put it into my bag along with the saucers! (I think my smile worked slightly better than my french on the older guys!) 

I have never tried opening the tin, I think you need a screw driver, and a bit of elbow grease.  I thought it would look nice on a shelf somewhere, but the truth is, I have quite a few things, and very few shelves.  So....in the spirit with which it was handed to me, I pass it along to you, for a smile!  Give it a good home!

Its feels like projects around the house have come to a complete standstill...we've re-implemented afternoon nap (for mom)...and my better half has taken on more of the domestic load (which means he doesn't have much time for extras)...As you can imagine, my focus for the last 10 weeks of this pregnancy will be on my two year old: building rockets; kicking a soccer ball; going on big walks; visiting toy stores; watching subway trains from the beltline; going to the library; taking music classes etc...just trying to make him feel special before he has to start sharing his mommy!

Anyways,  despite the absence of any BIG changes, I hope to keep you in the loop of the little changes and random things happening in our household.  Like what I am preparing for dinner!
