Over/Under

Welcome to this week's edition of 'where to hang the towel bar'...ok, so its not a weekly series...but I still need help...

We went with an 18" towel bar for beside the vanity...I'm not sure if I should mount it over the tile, or on the tile.  Over the tile avoids putting holes in the tile (i like)...on the tile just seems like the 'right' thing to do...

So please let the advice start to pour in...

ps... I want a frameless mirror above the sink, mounted with a french cleat, just like Peter Fallico did in the bathroom on his recent home to flip show...
pss...still haven't ordered a light for the artemide basic strip
psss...the westelm light needs windex...
pssss...I think I made up my mind, looking at the photos side by side, but I still want to hear what you have to say!!!!!!!!!!
psssss...one of my hand towels has clearly been washed with the 'colours' a few more times than the other...

  1. I vote for on the tile, but for a completely different (and possibly stupid) reason. When i finish washing my hands i want the towel to be lower than my elbows (i'm not that tall, so a couple of inches makes all the difference), otherwise the water runs down from my hands, and then i also need to dry my wrists and forearms.

  3. I kinda like uninterrupted tile. So towel bar on top for me. But I don't think you can go wrong with either!!

  4. I vote for above the tile.

  5. While I agree with RV on the dripping down the arms thing, I still would go with over. Easier (possible) to patch if you move it, and I think it just looks better imo.

  6. I like it on the tile. It just seems more integrated into the space somehow.

  7. I like it above the tile. It gives you more access to the actual towel part.

  8. We went above the tile! The reason? because the painters tape ripped off some of the paint, and by installing it where the tears were, I was able to get two jobs done at once! I am very happy with it!
