Office puttering part four - desk swap

At the risk of sending you packing, here is one more office post (I can't guarantee that this is the last office post, but the last post about my office for today!)
I brought up the smaller desk from the basement...its one foot shorter than the large table we were using... What do you think? (I love it!)
Please allow me to thank you for all of your comments...I thought carefully about every suggestion...
Dabito's comment about the lamps sparked an 'A-HA' moment...(this is the floor lamp we happened to have on hand)
The best part is that I didn't have to spend a thing...
I guess I tend to over stuff rooms...

(I took the photos using the incandescent light setting, but the lamps cast a VERY warm glow on the room...)

  1. I like it! This was a lotta fun, like we were all there helping you shuffle things around.

  2. The new arrangement looks great, though I'd probably opt for a task floor lamp to play up the vintage feel in the room. The desk is more proportionate to the space in front of the window now. I love this smaller desk of yours. Where did you get it if I might ask?

  6. Looks great, it does not look over stuffed. I have the same feeling here, I've got lots of things I love around me and sometimes I wonder if it's over stuffed.

  7. WOW Thanks everybody!!! This is an old pottery barn kids desk (we've had it for about 7 years or so)

Seriously, thanks for all your help!!! I couldn't have figured it out on my own!

  8. A great improvement, I'd say. Well done Shannon. You're definitely building up your biceps with all this moving around, eh? I like the desk a lot. I'd recommend getting some plants in the room now...even a cute little white African violet on your desk. Or a cactus on your bookshelves. I love your book collection...and I completely understand you wanting to keep it all (I'm the same). Have you thought about breaking up the stacks/rows of books with some interesting objects/plants/sculptures?

p.s. What do people do with their computers? Not the most pleasant sight. I've got a laptop so I don't have this issue. Just wondering.
