Summer Tablescape

We bought these glasses from Urban Barn today.  While my husband was out playing tennis, I decided to test drive a pretty summer table setting.  I wanted to see if I could pull it off, and wondered what I might be missing!  You may recognize the fabric I purchased after you guys ok'd it.  Surprise - its yellow! (I was surprised too!)

I clipped some greens from the yard, but I would buy flowers if I had people coming over (Yes, I hauled everything outside for fun!).

My son thought the clementines looked better centered on each plate (one found its way into a tumbler).  He did this entirely on his own...I think we have a mini stylist on our hands!!

So....what do you think!???  Anything missing?? Maybe prettier napkins (cloth)...are place-mats always necessary?  The amber glasses work well with all the cedar in the yard...that was accidental - trust me!

ps. the long shadows and brilliant sun made it difficult for me to take photos ...but the light on the coloured glass is gorgeous!  I hope summer lasts until at least September 9th so that we can actually use this setting when we have company coming for dinner!

It looks beautiful. I hope you got to enjoy it a little. Love the clementines on the plates. Your son must take after his mommy.

  6. Looks so great! I would stick with no placemats - love the casual feel like you have it. Those glasses are fantastic...and the colour is versatile for a nice fall table setting too. I like the clementine in the glass :)

  8. That is a stunning table setting! You are so talented. Love the mix of china, linens, glasswear etc. I seem to have no ability to do this myself, I am so inept with accessorizing.

  10. Wow! the top photo in this post is stunning, all your things are gorgeous. But the way the lighting is and the colors, it's amazing. I totally get how fun that is, it's like playing dress-up. I would love to be invited to that party, wouldn't you??

  11. I do want to paint them...but I won't be painting anything until next summer...so I have time to mull it over...I like the idea of painting them different shades...soft colours...

I am used to them as is, and with a happy bright tablescape, they are perfect...so maybe I save myself some trouble and stick with cheery table settings /plain chairs?!
