Shannon, as someone who works for somewhere with a Customer Service centre, all I can say is CALL AND MAKE THE BIGGEST STINK POSSIBLE. I know it isn't in your nature (or am assuming so cause you seem nice on your blog) and it is very un-Canadian, but if you want a discount, that is how to do it! :)
That is super annoying!! And yes - a coupon is the least they could have done!
