I like the idea..I'm planning a similar project in metallic gold. My gut is that painting the vanity is an either/or...big primary colors on the wall OR painting vanity? The bathroom looks great!
ReplyDeleteActually, I think its a fantastic idea. Its cheap, can be personal and can add a great deal of dimension. I think I may try my hand at it....lol

maybe just me ... but I don't like the primary colours ... maybe if you greyed them down a bit.
ReplyDeleteI would say because everything is very minimalist, bringing in something with a nice birch frame to warm things up, might be a great idea. I'm not very hot about unframed canvases. I really like your 2nd image with the same block/primary colours but in a nice wooden frame. I think that would work wonderfully. Just my two cents. By the way, I LOVE that bathroom. And the shower+pendant are to die for.
ReplyDeletehmmmmm....I could also do 3 shades of yellow....
ReplyDeleteI don't know why... but I hate it! Love the bathroom... would rather see b&w photos in a colored frame perhaps? I dunno...
ReplyDeleteWoah Delta! Don't be shy ;)
ReplyDeleteI REALLY wanted this at one point:

Susana Reisman, Measuring tape number 10
But it was $800 I think and I wasn't ready to spend that...I would have to track it down again...
I definitely prefer the pool photos from your previous post. They add more interest than more blocks/rectangular lines.

I am not crazy about the primary colours and do not find them warming at all. Like Jordana, I like your pool photos and I think if you were to introduce some texture via some nice baskets and luxe towels in a warming shade say burnt orange, deep teal or something pulled from the photo it may feel a bit warmer. The bathroom is a perfect backdrop for just about anything - you did a great job and I am admiring the work you did as we are in the process of doing our basement which includes a bathroom....and how I found your blog!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of bold colour but never primary colours together (I find them loud and obnoxious together).
ReplyDeleteBUT if you go this route I think you need a band of black to ground the colours like in the H&H example. Google Piet Mondrian for inspiration.
Also, I'd push the yellow in closer to the red+blue so that the spacing in between each is uniform. That way they spatially relate to one another.
Lastly, I would re-think canvas in the bathroom because of the humidity/moisture (possible cracking/flaking?); I'm not sure if sealants exist that are appropriate for that kind of environment.
Oh - I'm not shy! ;o) What about the poster you have leaning under your stairs? Great colors - and it's uber cheap! Just saying...
ReplyDeleteI love all your feedback...keep it coming...I think I will do this colour blocking canvases - but in another place in the basement...The main media + kid's play area is already bombed with red yellow and blue...and I agree that working black in is important too!....
ReplyDeletestay tuned for more basement bathroom options...I had another idea today...
Since you asked....Here's my opinion; primary colors look amazing in your basement with your kid's stuff. In a fantastic bathroom like you have, they suck. But seriously, your latest basement photos were really nice. I would go with modern art, maybe one or two colors. Your bathroom is a perfect gallery!
ReplyDeleteHow about an art print of Mark Rothko's? They come in a wide range of colors. The bonus is that you can have the art print mounted and laminated on a poster board. All Posters.ca is having a 75% sale now.

how do you like the Odensvik sink? i am purchasing my Godmorgon 4 drawer vanity today and have been torn between the single Odensvik and the Norrviken sinks. I like the look of the Norrviken, but think the cermaioc Odensvik may hold up better against staining....what's your experience? btw, i just came upon your blog, but i think we were separated at birth. i am spot-on loving your space and your design choices. thanks! -michele
ReplyDeletealso, what size vanity did you choose with that double sink? thanks
