The Power of Brasso!

I took the time to polish this brass double bowl server thing (does anyone know what its for?)

BEFORE & AFTER:

I tried ketchup - it did nothing...tried vinegar and baking soda - impressive fizzing action, a bit of a shine, but I needed to use Brasso to get the grit off...
There is a little marker at the bottom that says Germany...

Its GORGEOUS!  I am in love!  This has to be one of my all time favorite things I've ever collected (Or maybe we should say my all-time favorite for 2011 - so far!)

    No idea of intended purpose, but I second using it for S & P. I can see old fashioned sugar cubes looking good..if you use them.

    Looks great! Hooray for Brasso! I was also thinking the salt & pepper thing. But how about using it for jewelry or sweets or paperclips...
