Basement Storage Room

The garage sale was a success! We cleared away a lot of unnecessary clutter.  Now we only have necessary clutter (and a bushel basket!)! This wall gets a passing grade for being organized:
New Ikea boxes for my better half's electronic bits and bobs
This side still needs improvement:
We need to get our act together one day and make the area above the washer dryer functional.  However, the machines sit a good six inches away from the wall, so I don't know how you reach anything if you have mount cupboards on the wall above.  Are we the only homeowners who have a washer/dryer that practically sit in the middle of the room? What do you do with this space?

  2. Organized so well! Congrats! Great use of shelving, that's forsure. I recently picked up clear storage bins with red flap lids from Home Depot for $3 each. I'm storing absolutely everything in them. I love that I can see everything and that they stack so nicely. Perhaps consider them for the laundry side of the room. If not perhaps you could browse at Ikea for shelving and cabinets and such.

  3. I think Ikea holds the answers I am looking for! I think frosted white semi transparent boxes this time!

I desperately want to run to Ikea RIGHT NOW and start drilling things onto the wall...lucky for my boys pregnancy slows me down!

  4. I have my washer and dryer in the middle of the "room" and I'm stacking them once they go into the basement. I had them set up this way in my previous house and actually miss it a lot.

  6. oohh, I spied pyrex! It makes me pretty happy too! Hopefully some of that collection is upstairs as well - I'm guessing "overflow" made it to the basement!

  7. Yur right!! That's pyrex overflow! I have Cinderella bowls on my open shelves and the normal bowls in the cupboard for everyday use....I need some brighter colours though...I am getting tired of the same old! Maybe I will take a thrift store trip tomorrow!
