Jordana, at White Cabana, is a brilliant lady!!!!!* She suggested we relocate the toy area in our basement to the wall behind the couch! WE LOVE IT (All three of us are fond of the change! My son immediately started pulling his trucks out to litter the room with toys)
Now we have a huge space to play with...from the post to the wall its 11'5" and from the corner to the carpet its 7'5",,,the stub wall is 4'8" across.
It completely changes the room...my mind is blown away! I have no idea what to do with this blank space! What do you think? Table and chairs? More comfy seating?
*I've been reading her blog for at least a year now, and I only recently clued in that Jordana, and Cabana rhyme.

I would move your sofa to the wall with the black door. Now you should have room for some end tables with lamps. Next move your TV to the corner vacated by the toys. Put it on an angle. Then you need to get a big comfy chair and angle it so you can watch TV or have a conversation with someone on the sofa.Make sure to move you rug up a little. Then you can put your two chairs in the spot where your TV was. Hope this advice from a fellow Canadian helps.
ReplyDeleteHi Christine! The TV and couch have to stay put....we have a projector and an 8 foot movie screen involved in the layout too!
ReplyDeleteWOW! It' looks great! There is so much more usable space!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see where you put the wall of shelves now!
Ah - I see a great big space for your son to drive all his trucks now!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're going to try this layout out for a bit. You could move the teak chairs to the empty space with a side table for a "cozy seating/reading nook"? Or it could be an exercise zone (does your tv swivel)?
I think a large piece of art would look fab there. The lighting kind of calls for it, I'd say.
Jordana
p.s. Believe it or not I only realized my name rhymes with White Cabana at the Blogger meet-up last month. I never really had to say both names together before.
p.s. I'm jealous that you have a projector. That's pretty cool.
ReplyDeletei popped the black chair into the corner and put the colorful mats back, and my son has spread out all over the new space
ReplyDeletei think the next step is to add some shelves then some art...and we will get a feel for what we need from the space
i am going to sell the white/teak chairs (at a loss probably *sigh*) and the rattan orange chairs too...
i want to empty out
Looks great. Am sooo jealous of the space you have in your basement.
