Clover Lawn

I mentioned we planted clover in the front, instead of grass....here is what it looks like today!

So lush! (and a tad weedy)

I am about to google 'clover lawn' to see if its beneficial to cut it (better for the plant?) ...if it was up to me, I'd keep it tall!

ps. If your dog did a do-do in it, you would pick it up, right? Even though its long, you wouldn't just let the clover hide it, right?! I'm actually a bit concerned about mowing the lawn myself, and even reaching in to pull weeds, because of this!)

  1. We planted clover in front too about 3 years ago, the first year it was very "puffy" our friends would laugh at us. We did cut it because it looked a bit silly when it was really puffy. But it's strange because when I spread the seed I had mixed in some grass seed as well. This year the grass has out competed the clover and its about 60/40 grass/clover and looks great. Don't worry about cutting it, it's easy.

  2. I Love this idea. I've been thinking about grass alternatives. I find grass too high maintenance and not very environmentally friendly! Looks great!

  3. We went for 100pct clover...but some crab grass sprouted too

I LOVE how bushy it is! About 6 inches tall!!!

  4. Clover when seeded needs to be kept wet for two full weeks (so plant it in the spring, not July, as we did), then after its established, its more drought resistant than grass...

but you have to deal with bees!
and its only good for low traffic areas...not where you are going to be walking everyday!

p.s. I hope you're feeling okay and resting lots! I can't imagine dealing with fainting while pregnant - take care of yourself!

  9. Lush, lush, lush! It's beautiful. I wanna hop around in it, like a bunny, but as you mentioned, doggy do-do will keep me from doing any of that. Yuck.
