A few of my favorite blogs and why I love them!

I get excited when I click through to a blog for the first time and find amazing photography, spontaneity, and original writing...blogs that teach me how to dress myself, or how to style my home, or have a frugal/positive/slowing life down/recycled/thrifty point-of-view...and above all, blogs with a bit of something I want to have, or I want to be... This isn't as green as envy, and the word inspiration is soooo overused...I think of them as kindred spirits*

Rockstar Diaries-  Taza (Naomi) shares everyday moments and puts a real shine on them... There's a brightness to her! Her writing is warm and inviting - I've only been reading for a few months but I feel like a cherished friend.  Oh, and they are ridiculously good looking people!!

The Daybook - I've been reading this blog since my pregnancy when I spotted one of Sydney's maternity outfits on pinterest.  Her awkward and awesome posts are my favorite. In them she describes silly or embarrassing moments in a sweet smiley way (without emoticons). She also writes about the simple things that make each day a joy.  And if you ever see me wearing a floppy hat from urban outfitters, she would be the reason why!

A Future Present - I just discovered this blog and fell hard.   I even sent a note saying something like, "'I love your sunglasses and your blog, way to go"  Yah, I think it got a bit weird.  After seeing their upside down planters in their kitchen, I immediately ordered some for mine.  Yes, I'm trying to copy their cool but I know I will fail, since they are twenty-something artists living NYC and I am a lame old housewife living in Toronto.

The Brick House- love every.single.thing Morgan does, buys, designs, builds.  She is my blog hero.

The Marion House Book - Raw talent oozes out of Emma...she somehow scoops it up and smushes it into the computer.  No wonder magazines have come calling!

What are your favorite blogs at the moment? What makes you keep going back for more???

*but that is probably because I'm reading 'Anne of Green Gables'

  2. Thanks Shannon. I get really bored with the same old same old blogs, but its hard to find new ones that capture your heart consistently. Other's blogrolls are good for new finds, but I do appreciate it when bloggers put together a collection.

  3. They are so SUPER popular blogs...but I didn't know about 3 of them until fairly recently!

I have so many favorites. I could have added 15 to 50 more to the list!

  4. I'm with you on the Rockstar Diaries - I always look forward to their posts. I really like the Marion House Book too but I haven't read the other two. I'll have to check them out - thanks for sharing!

  5. I love Rockstar Diaries, I had found her through the AT Homies award and yes, why are they all so good looking? And I've been following Emma for a while now. I go back and forth on the Brick House, not quite my style.
My new favourite is House of Earnest - lovely DIY, attainable and well done. http://www.houseofearnest.com/
And from a style point of view I like vmac+cheese http://vmacandcheese.com/ She did an awesome mini alt series and puts a lot of visual effort into her posts.
Sometimes I find myself reading blogs and being annoyed or bored but I can't stop myself from going back - maybe I have hope they'll be back to what they used to be?
...ohh and no way old or lame, you are one of those blogs I read where I say - uhh I think I'd like to meet her in real life!

  7. Thanks for including me Shannon. I've been a truly bad reader of other blogs lately but I hope to turn that around once I have baby #2. I imagine myself up at 3 am visiting sites and leaving comments! Looking forward to checking out some of the other blogs you mention. By the way, have I told you your redesign looks amazing. Love how simple and clean it is.

  9. An excellent list here Shannon. I visit these blogs too! A fashion one that I love (in addition to the one I write for - Fashion in Motion) is Atlantic Pacific. I just LOVE all Blair's outfits and on some days I really want to recreate them - but I'm still too attached to my black & white wardrobe.

  13. I normally don't write on blogs because I don't want to get all weird and say something that I think later "I can't believe I said that." You are my favourite blogger though. Your one liners make me laugh and I think, this is someone who I could be friends with, she is soooo normal! I love that you talk about your oily bangs and unwashed jeans and even let us see your house when it's messy. Thanks for being so real Shannon.
