Kids Art

Last week, my son painted a picture of a bus at a stop light, using acrylic paints on some old white foam core board. I trimmed the picture (I had to cut out the skinny pink cloud at the top, my son was distraught over that), and framed it in a poster frame that had been left in pieces in the utility room. I think my husband is going to bring it downtown and hang it in his office...

I also have a clear envelop of truck pictures my son drew. I want to turn them into a book, or maybe even a story book or maybe even a black and white line poster...something that I can keep forever! I can't wait to get started! We have a scanner, but I think the easiest thing to do is take a photo of each picture...from there, well, I am not sure...

ps. I can't keep him little!

UPDATE: I hung it here:

kid's art is the best. Half of my art on the walls was done by my almost 4 year old. Best pieces ever :)

  4. Very cool ideas! My father made me and my brothers albums with photos, artwork and short stories from our childhoods. I love looking through it on occasion, so I think it's great if you can find a way to save some of it - for yourself and for the boys.

  5. I sometimes feel burdened by the bin of stuff that was saved for me...I don't know what to do with it! One of these days I will organize and purge...in fact, every few months I go through it and a bag of stuff gets recycled...

So I really don't want to keep everything...I promise myself that I won't keep everything...yet, I fall in love with his drawings, every-single-one! I guess that is typical, i'm a typical mom!

  6. Tell your son his picture is so great it made me smile all day! And I love it up there on the wall too. Maybe I'll draw a bus or my silly dog....hmmm...so much to do!

  7. I love it. I have art that my son did when he was eight. He is now thirty, and architect, and soon to be a father. His art still brings a smile to my face.
