Ikea has done it again!

Looks like we will be making another Ikea purchase for the basement.  We are using the odensvik sink and the godmorgon vanity in the bathroom, and now the Kivik sectional is coming home with us too!

My biggest fear when selecting a sofa is that I will choose one that is too big for the space.  However, this is a large room, and there seemed to be a greater possibility of selecting a sofa that was too small, rather than too large...I think.

Of course we did what any nerds would do.  We grabbed a stack of measuring tapes and marked out the floor plan to test it out.  It seemed to work.  Ok, a little on the large side, but not exceedingly so.

Next we went to see the sectional and test it for comfort.  Definitely passed the comfort test.

We wanted something affordable, kid friendly, and modern.  The Kivik fits the bill!

Yesterday, my DH drove to Vaughan to execute the purchase.  That Ikea only had half the sectional in stock.  That half was delivered today.  This evening my DH drove to Etobicoke to get the other half of the sectional.  It is set to arrive tomorrow.  Yes we got stuck paying two delivery charges. Seriously, who orders this stuff?  How can you be left with odd pieces?  None of the local ikeas had the full set.  Apparently Kivik is selling like hotcakes!

(We selected the Teno blue grey slip cover...its an oatmealy greige.  I love it!)

  1. What a sleek looking sectional! If you didn't tell me it was from Ikea, I would have thought a fancy dancy expensive store. I am keeping that sofa in the back of my mind for when we move.

  2. You can tell that I am fairly smitten with ikea...they do so many things right...this couch is selling like hotcakes, but I am sure in 1.5 years it will be all over craigslist...so no biggies.

  4. The colour is called 'teno light blue gray'...it doesn't show up if you go through ikea.ca directly, but its still on the site if you follow the link in my post...

In fact, the night before we went to buy the sofa, I noticed that teno light blue gray wasn't on the website anymore and I nearly had a heart attack! Luckily I had saved a link!

  5. Hi,
I'm looking into guying this sofa in this color and wanted to know how it is holding up. Do you have animals? Do they like to scratch at it?

  6. Nope, no animals...

Seems to be holding up fine, but my husband is the only one down there for just a few hours in the evenings...it hasn't faced kids or pets!

  7. Do you guys find the fabric scratchy and itchy? Because I am finding mine to be really itchy when I sit on it and I have even sprayed it countless times with fabric softener and it isn't getting better. I think I am going to return the covers because I cannot deal with the itching anymore.
