oops I did it again!

I lost my head at the thrift stores today...here's what I picked up:
the whites
all smalls
two new patterns!
Imagine this brass beauty all shined up?
gorgeous blue glass diamond cut decanter
Silver Godinger Candle sticks (I gave them a quick polish)
Chubby pear jam jar...chubb chubbs
Small West Germany Vase
Has anyone ever tried to make their own silver polish?
Have you ever used ketchup to clean your brass? I am going to try that tonight!

FYI...there is some nice vintage patterned fire king bakeware at Value Village on Dufferin (a bit north of the city) and a TON of milk glass mixing bowls at the Goodwill near Yorkdale...oh and I really nifty rattan side table (for $19.99, as if) at that same Goodwill...

  1. Love those candlesticks - great find. I was at Value Village today but only walked away with a couple of cookbooks.

  2. Love the white bowls.

I just found a great cleaner for brass. Dip your sponge in vinegar and then in salt. Rub on the brass. It really works and is environmentally friendly.

  3. hmmmm...I didn't try the vinegar and salt...I tried vinegar and baking soda...

I think the natural stuff works to keep it bright and shining...but I needed something heavy duty to get the 40 year old grime off!

  6. The blue damper is going to Janice from Life Begins @ 30...I bought it thinking of her brass bar cart and her teal pillows/accents...

  9. Where on earth do you keep all your thrift store finds? Do you use them all or plan to sell them or what? Your home is so beautiful and clutter-free - I can't imagine where you have all this stuff.

  10. I manage to squirrel everything away...I don't anticipate being able to do this forever, eventually I will get bored and pick up another hobby...

I will also sell some stuff this summer at our garage sale...and I have unloaded a couple things on CList...

Before we renovated the basement I gave away practically everything I owned (other than my books)...so I guess, in a way, I have just been taking on new stuff to replace the old (different things, of course!)

I am sitting her justifying my habit because deep down I know that I am running out of space, and I have to be more selective!

ps...clutter drives me crazy! I am tidying just about every second of the day!
